Barista Skills is for people focusing on the key practical skills you need behind the espresso bar: learn how to set your grinder, make espresso and texture milk for cappuccinos.
Roasting gives you an understanding of the roasting process, including the roast cycle and how to control sensory aspects of the coffee by roasting light or dark. Please note this course is only on offer at our Gauteng training centre.
At this level you will have more time to practice the skill of latte art and discover basic business principles - you will need to have completed the Barista Skills Foundation course before embarking on the intermediate level.

At this stage you will embark on the scientific and molecular structures of coffee and its interaction with water. You will need to have completed the Brewing Skills Foundation and Intermediate Courses before embarking on the Professional level.
Introductory demonstration of the preparation technique of espresso based beverages including identification of equipment, coffee basics, setting the grinder, pouring a perfect shot of espresso, milk texturisation and cleaning your equipment. Limited practical time is available, and no certification.
Coffee Shop Course provides the Barista with the basics coffee knowledge to prepare espresso based beverages on an espresso machine. Modules included are identification of equipment, coffee basics, setting the grinder, pouring a perfect shot of espresso, milk texturisation and cleaning the equipment. A theory and practical assessment seals the package with a Ciro Certificate.
